ESG at a Glance

For ROWE, ESG is a central component of our corporate strategy and goes far beyond regulatory requirements. We define ESG as a holistic approachtoenvironmental, social, and governance issues throughout our entire value chain.

- Focus on the circular economy and renewable raw materials

- Initiatives for employees, diversity, and safety

- Further development of compliance and governance structures

In doing so, we pursue a clear goal: to combine long-term economic success with environmental and social responsibility. Our activities range from climate protection and resource conservation to employee development and transparent, responsible decision-making structures.

Our actions are guided by a systematic analysis of our key impacts, risks, and opportunities. Based on this analysis, we define specific goals and measures, which we continuously refine and regularly review.

Our goal is to actively integrate ESG into all areas of our business and make it an integral part of our day-to-day decision-making.

Environment (EnvironmentAL)

ROWE’s environmental division focuses on climate protection, energy efficiency, and the responsible use of resources throughout the entire value chain. Significant impacts arise in particular from greenhouse gas emissions, the use of fossil fuels, and energy-intensive processes in the upstream value chain.

To reduce these impacts, ROWE pursues a comprehensive climate strategy that includes specific goals for reducing emissions, increasing energy efficiency, and developing alternative products—for example, those based on renewable base oils or designed for alternative drive systems.

  • Expansion of renewable energy sources (e.g., photovoltaics) and continuous improvement in energy efficiency

  • Certified management systems (ISO 14001 and ISO 50001) for managing environmental and energy aspects

  • Development of sustainable products with the EU Ecolabel

  • Promotion of the circular economy, e.g., through the use of recycled materials and re-refined products

Further information on guidelines, measures, key performance indicators, and targets can be found in the Sustainability Report, which is based on the ESRS.

Social Affairs (Social)

ROWE’s employees are a key factor in the company’s success. The focus is on a safe, healthy, and inclusive work environment, as well as long-term employer attractiveness.

ROWE aims to provide all employees with a work environment characterized by health and safety, equal opportunity, and opportunities for individual development. At the same time, social impacts throughout the value chain are taken into account.

  • Comprehensive occupational safety and health measures, as well as prevention programs
  • Promotion of diversity and inclusion with a clear zero-tolerance policy toward discrimination
  • Employee development opportunities (e.g., training, feedback sessions, and performance reviews)
  • Regular dialogue with stakeholders such as employees, customers, and suppliers

In addition, a wide range of health promotion initiatives—such as subsidies for fitness programs, e-bike leasing, and health courses—combined with employee engagement programs, help foster employee satisfaction, motivation, and long-term retention. Further information on guidelines, measures, key performance indicators, and goals can be found in the Sustainability Report, which is based on the ESRS.

Corporate Governance

ESG is firmly embedded in ROWE’s organizational structure and is managed through clear responsibilities, processes, and control mechanisms.

The Executive Board bears overall responsibility for the company’s innovative direction. It is supported by ROWE’s own ESG Office, which coordinates initiatives and monitors progress.

  • Regular monitoring and reporting (quarterly internally, annually externally)
  • Establishment and further development of a compliance management system
  • Organizational integration of compliance within the ESG Office
  • Centralized policy management for the development and implementation of internal requirements (e.g., Code of Conduct)
  • Control loops and communication channels for implementing external requirements
  • Central whistleblower system for the ROWE Group

Sustainability considerations are systematically integrated into strategy, risk management, and decision-making processes.
