3rd TRIUMPH FOR ROWE RACING AT THE 24 H OF SPA
ROWE RACING celebrated its third victory at the 24 Hours of Spa, following wins in 2016 and 2020. Philipp Eng, who also triumphed for the third time at Spa, brought home the win in the final stages, securing the first Spa victory for his teammates Marco Wittmann and Nick Yelloly. After 24 hours and 537 laps on the Belgian Formula 1 track, Eng crossed the finish line in the #98 BMW M4 GT3 with a lead of 11.129 seconds, sealing the 25th victory for BMW M in the 75th edition of the race. No other team has achieved such a record in Spa since 2016, including second-place finishes in 2018 and 2019.
This year, ROWE RACING also achieved a podium finish with at least one car in the fifth consecutive race. In the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, the team leads both the driver and team standings. Eng, Wittmann, and Yelloly overcame obstacles at Spa, including starting from 26th position, a fueling issue, an unfortunate Full Course Yellow period shortly after a pit stop, and a 30-second time penalty for frequently exceeding track limits.
Unfortunately, the sister #998 car retired after a collision in the twelfth hour. ROWE RACING driver Neil Verhagen was fortunately uninjured.
